The Inspire Soccer League

The Inspire Soccer League is a national league for individuals 16 and older with intellectual disabilities who want to showcase their talent on a competitive stage nationwide.

ISL features four contingents across the United States, and is quickly expanding with the long-term objective of forming regional conferences to further structure competition. Lisenced and supported by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), many teams are branches of already-existing professional clubs, while others are independent and community-formed, largely from non-profits that create recreational sports opportunities for these athletes.

As the U.S.’s inaugural year-long competition tailored specifically for athletes with intellectual disabilities, the Inspire Soccer League intends to be a facilitator of social, emotional, and physical wellbeing among the communities it serves. The core of its mission is giving people the opportunity to step beyond sporadic, participation-based activities, to train and compete like the true athletes they are.
